Will I be buying an IPhone - That is a big No

It seems like you can't read anything online lately without hearing about the IPhone from Apple. It looks like it will work great but I will have to take a pass. Lets do some common sense math here. The phone is $599 which is a hefty price for a wireless phone. Being that the latest phone that you must have comes out every 6 months why would I spend that much money on a phone.

Say you keep your Iphone for 1 year that is $12 a week just to own the phone. Thats $48 a month probably more money thatyou would spend on your landline phone for a month. We haven't even got to the service plan yet. We all know that the service plan is what cost you the most money. Think about how much more time you will be spending on your "cool cell phone" showing it off for the first two months, you are bound to go over your minutes for those months.

The only service provider is AT&T which I would have to end my current contract with Verizon which would cost me over $100. Once I switch I get inferior service than I already have. I will pass on that.

So is this money well spent for a phone, whats the matter with your old phone may I ask.

Time to Rant About My Cell Phone

Back in April/May I upgraded my cell phone from my LG vx 4500 to a new Palm Treo 650 from Verizon. After using the phone for about a month with Bluetooth I take it off and I notice that the phones speaker doesn't work. When someone calls me I can't hear them. Since it was past the 30 days where I could bring it back I just got pissed and switched back to my old LG vx4500 phone and chalked it up as an expensive loss. It seems this was a major problem with a lot of Palm Treo 650's. Of course I found that out after I bought one.

About two weeks ago my LG vx4500 LCD screen broke and it made the phone useless as I couldn't see anyone on the screen to dial a number. The only way I could speak to anyone is if they called me or I used voice activation which is a pain. I go to the Verizon store and the lady tells me that she can sell me a new phone for around $150.00. Since I am still pissed over the loss of buying the Treo there was no way I was going to buy a new phone.

I left the store and went home, where I went online and reactivated my Palm treo so I could have a phone until I replaced it with another phone. Then I went to Ebay and bought myself a new LG vx4500 for $19. It came in the mail today and works just fine :)

Lesson learned here is if you lose your phone or you break your phone Go to EBay as it may save you some money.

Just another reason to pick up a headset for driving. The penalty for driving with a cell phone here in New York is $100 or so. For around $29 you can get a nice headset that makes driving safer anyway.

Palm Treo 650

Well it has been around two months now since I bought the Palm Treo 650 and to tell you the truth I am still learning the functions. One thing that I am disappointed in is the sound quality. When I first got the phone I could not hear anyone when they called me. I wish I would of done more research on this phone but knowing me I checked for months before I bought it and never saw this issue at all.

Now that I have the problem I know I should of typed in the service provider I planned on using and this issue would of shown up. To tell you the truth it is embarrasing to even type this but hey we all make mistakes. As for the phone I had to pay another $20 for a download from a third party just to hear people.

Now I can hear people because of the good folks over at GoTreo software Inc. They have a program called volumecare that fixes this issue. I wish Palm or Verizon would of issued a patch for this. What I should of done was return the phone but I was thinking it was a setting and the 30 day warranty was up by then.

This just shows you that anyone can make a mistake. I researched this phone until I was blue in the face.

Palm Treo 700 revisted

After trying out this phone for myself I am much happier with the olfd Treo 650 instead. There are some features that I will never use on the 700 and for some reason it just seems to work strange. Maybe it takes time to get use to but the price on the new Treo 700 does not justify the high cost for this pda style phone.

Before you buy this cell phone visit some more sites it seems there is a cult like following that agree that the 650 is a better deal.

I was just over surfing a few websites and i seen the new treo 700w and it looks like a winner. The treo forums are all a buzz about it.

I will wait for more reviews before I upgrade. I also want to see what the new software is and how it runs first.

Motorola's Third Rokr From the Sun

So Is Motorla saying that the ROKR cell phone that has been selling ok a flop. Maybe they are just updating what they have learned with their first attempt at making the worlds best cell phone.

I love Motorola and I love their phones but this took me by surprise but I did go and by some Motorola stock today. Jim Cramer says they are best of breed but enough about that.

Muscle Time for Motorola

It has been a while since I have posted to the blog, I have been busy updating a few pages on the site with up to date information. The speed that cell phone technology takes is unbelievable.

This past weekend I attended the Digital Life Expo at the Jacob Javits center and I have seen the future. Our cell phones will be doing everything soon. The biggest buzz was how video games are going to get better on your phone. Some of the games I looked at it looked like I was watching an Xbox.

Ok now back to the subject I started this post on and that is the Number #1 cell phone company. If you are looking for phones then you have to see what is selling the most and right now that is Motorola and Nokia. You can tell by reading the stock reports. Motorola earnings are up and earnings is expected to be. That means they are doing something right with their cell phones. People are buying them, It could be better features or in Motorola's case the Razor phone.

Just found this page surfing around the internet. It seems like our friends at Palm have a new Treo coming out soon.

If you are planning on getting a treo 650 you may want to wait a bit as this pda/cellphone looks really good. It may pay to wait for it to come down. If you were planning on getting a treo 650 you should wait for the new phone to be released and the price to drop.

Cell phones and Ipods

So it seems that if you are going to buy an Ipod you might as well wait for the new Ipod phones to come out and just upgrade your phone. Apple and Motorola are working on a Ipod phone that will be available in a few months.

The phones will be offered through Cingular wireless but I am sure that other cell phone companies will be joining up in full force.

Cell Phone Or PDA

I just read an interesting article in a magazine that said in the next few years that more people will buy a PDA/cellphone then a regular cellphone. I find this hard to believe as you still have a lot of people that buy a cellphone just for emergencies.

I have 5 members in my family that keep a cellphone in the car just in case they break down. I would think that there are a lot of people that still do this too.

Sure most business people have some sort of phone like a treo 650 or a blackberry but how many average people have one. I would bet that number is still low even though the treo has a nifty camera phone.

I guess we will see this in the future but I think they are wrong.

Cell Phone In Store Sales

It is very intimating when you actually walk into a store to buy a cell phone. With a wide selection behind the counter and all the accessories that are hanging on the walls. You have to make sure that you only get the phone that you need.

The sales clerk probably works on a commission so it is in their best interest in selling you all the extras that you will never need.

You may think that this can't happen to you as you will be very prepared before you walk into the cell phone store but trust me if it could happen to me it could happen to you too.

But you say that you will examine the bill, well that doesn't work as planned either as most people get lost between the first months charge and the activation fees just like I did the first time I bought a cell phone.

The reason why I started a web site for cell phones is to educate the public that these modern day auto salesmen as I like to call them are out there waiting for you to walk into their store.

Not all are bad it just seems like it is sometimes.

So now your family and friends are mad at you because they are getting calls in the middle of the night to their unlisted phone and you have your naked pictures all over the internet which are profile printed and hanging on the walls of every dorm room in the country.

My question is what kind of phone are you going to buy when thinking of getting a new cell phone.
